Five must-attend spring culinary events in Toronto

Once spring breaks in Toronto a plethora of outdoor activities pop-up and often you’re overwhelmed by the number of choices. Not to fear, I’ve researched the best culinary events that the city has to offer this spring and are recommending five that you should definitely attend.

The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies (SOBDL) Tap Takeover

When: Friday, April 26 7:00 pm
How much: $43.11
Who: SOBDL creates a safe and inclusive space in which female beer lovers and cicerones can enjoy and discuss their favourite brews.
What: Enjoy 20+ beers from Beau’s All Natural Brewing and Halcyon Barrel House including an exclusive event brew. If that’s not enough, there will be Vietnamese-Mexican food on sale and live cabaret. Proceeds from ticket sales support the Canadian Women’s Foundation.
Fun fact: Men are welcomed to attend after midnight with a $10 donation to the Canadian Women’s Foundation

Tastemaker

When: Friday, May 10 – Sunday, April 12
How much: $55 – $79
Who: The Tastemaker Tour brings together the best chefs, suppliers and mixologists for a weekend of delicious food and drinks in four North American cities — Washington DC, Chicago, Nashville and Toronto.
What: Hang out with some of the best chefs in Toronto at Evergreen Brickworks and enjoy dishes that they’ve created just for the weekend-long event. Talk about exclusive! In between bites, enjoy great cocktails and music at this culinary bash.

Rib & Craft Beer Fest

When: Thursday, May 16 – Sunday, April 19
How much: Free
Who: Making stops at 18 cities across Ontario, the Nothern Heat Rib Series is Canada’s largest BBQ and craft beer tour.
What: Who wouldn’t want to enjoy smoky and delicious BBQ, live entertainment, and copious amounts of craft beer at Yonge Dundas Square over Victoria Day weekend?

Spring Beerfest TO

When: Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19
How much: $34.52
Who: Produced by the same event organizers as the Toronto Festival of Beer, Spring Beerfest TO is a 19+ event that offers cottage vibes within the city.
What: Traipse around Garrison Commons with your commemorative #SBFTO2019 mug and delight is crispy suds and tasty morsels.

Toronto Poutine Fest

When: Friday, May 24 – Sunday, May 26
How much: Free
Who: In its second year, the Toronto Poutine Fest is fun for the entire family.
What: Enjoy traditional and modern poutine from well-respected poutineries in Ottawa and Quebec (let’s face it there will be an unofficial showdown between both provinces to determine who makes the better poutine).
