It’s always nice to see a fan-favourite show go out on a high note, and such was the case for Bones a couple of weeks ago. The forensics drama starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz aired its very final-sounding March 28 episode, The End in the End, to 4.35 million U.S. viewers — the most it’s had all season.
In Canada, 1.13 million people tuned in, nudging it up to No. 19 in the weekly ratings.
“When we started Bones, not even in our wildest dreams did we think we’d end being up Fox’s longest-running scripted drama, watched across the world,” creator Hart Hanson wrote on the show’s Facebook page.
“We used to joke that we should do one episode for each bone in the human body — which, as every true Bonehead knows, would have been a paltry 206 episodes.”
The show’s final tally was 246 episodes and 12 seasons.
Elsewhere in the ratings list, the Juno Awards popped up at No. 16 with an average of 1.4 million Canadians tuning in, up two per cent from last year. The top 10 programs were old faithfuls, with The Big Bang Theory, Survivor and NCIS strutting to the top.
Across the country, Big Bang ruled in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and the Greater Toronto Area. Edmonton was the odd city out, opting instead for Oilers hockey.
